Heal the Healers UK

PRESS RELEASE:

Funds are being raised initially to introduce TM to frontline ambulance staff in EEAST with the plan to offer TM to all ambulance staff, regardless of their role, over time.

Figures presented to Parliament in 2018, set out nearly 40% of ambulance staff have suffered PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) during service – more than five times as high as soldiers returning from active duty.

According to the mental health charity MIND, ambulance workers are twice as likely to suffer mental health problems than the general public – but they are also much less likely to reach out for support.
The latest data from the office of national statistics evidenced the risk of suicide amongst male paramedics was 75% higher than the national average.

Over 400 peer-reviewed published studies on TM have documented improvements in a wide variety of stress-related disorders, as well as significant improvements in cognitive function and overall health and well-being. In the USA, the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Defense have awarded nearly $30 million in grant support for research on TM.

Thank you to all the frontline staff providing compassionate care, even when they’ve suffering themselves.
